Privacy Policy
Pill Reminder keeps your medication list and dose history on your phone. This page explains exactly what that means, what the optional features transmit, and what rights you have over your data.
Summary
Pill Reminder is designed so that we do not hold your health information. Your medication list, schedules and dose history are stored locally on your Android device. There is no account to create, no advertising, and no analytics attached to your medication data.
- We do not collect, store or sell your medication list or dose history.
- The app works fully offline; nothing needs to leave your device for reminders to fire.
- Optional features you switch on yourself — caregiver alerts, backups, purchases — are the only things that transmit data, and each is described below.
- There are no third-party advertising SDKs in the app.
- You can export or permanently delete everything from within the app at any time.
Who we are
Pill Reminder is the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at faiqahmadinc@gmail.com or on +92 327 5734699 for any privacy question, including requests to exercise the rights set out below.
Information stored on your device
The following is created by you and held in the app's private storage area on your phone. It is not transmitted to us.
| Data | Why it exists | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Medication names, strengths and forms | To label reminders and build your schedule. | On your device only |
| Dose times and repeat patterns | To schedule alarms with the Android system. | On your device only |
| Dose confirmations (taken, late, skipped) | To build your adherence history and refill projections. | On your device only |
| Quantity on hand and refill dates | To warn you before a prescription runs out. | On your device only |
| Notes you add to a medication | Free-text reminders you write for yourself. | On your device only |
| App settings and preferences | Alarm sounds, snooze lengths, app lock settings. | On your device only |
Because this data never reaches us, we cannot retrieve it for you, and we cannot restore it if you delete the app or lose the device. Use the export feature if you want a copy you control.
Optional features that transmit data
Caregiver alerts
If you enable caregiver alerts, you nominate a contact and choose which medications are covered. When a covered dose is not confirmed within the delay you set, a notification is sent to that contact. The message identifies the medication and the missed time only — it does not include your full medication list, your history, or your location.
Delivering that notification requires the relevant details to pass through our messaging infrastructure. They are used only to deliver the alert and are retained for no longer than 30 days for delivery troubleshooting, after which they are deleted. Turning the feature off stops all transmission.
Exports and backups
Exporting your history produces a PDF or CSV file on your device. What happens to it afterwards is entirely your choice — if you email it, upload it, or send it to a cloud drive, that service's privacy policy applies, not ours.
Purchases
The optional one-time upgrade is processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card details. Google provides us with a purchase token so the app can verify entitlement; we do not receive your name, address or payment method.
Support correspondence
If you email or call us, we hold that correspondence so we can answer you and refer back to it if you contact us again. Please do not include more health information than you need to in a support message.
Android permissions we request
Android requires apps to request permission for certain capabilities. Here is exactly why each one is asked for, and what happens if you decline.
| Permission | What it is used for | If you decline |
|---|---|---|
| Notifications | Showing dose reminders and refill warnings. | The app cannot remind you at all. |
| Schedule exact alarms | Firing reminders at the precise minute rather than whenever the system batches them. | Reminders may arrive late or be grouped. |
| Run at startup | Re-registering your alarms after the phone restarts. | Reminders stop after a reboot until you open the app. |
| Do Not Disturb access | Letting critical-dose alarms sound while the phone is silenced. | Critical alarms are silenced with everything else. |
| Camera (optional) | Scanning a medication label so you do not have to type it in. | You enter medication details manually. No images are stored or uploaded. |
| Biometrics (optional) | Unlocking the optional app lock. | You can use a PIN or leave the app unlocked. |
| Internet (optional) | Delivering caregiver alerts and processing purchases. | Every reminder feature still works offline. |
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, for any purpose.
- We do not share your medication data with advertisers, data brokers, insurers or employers.
- We do not build advertising profiles, and the app contains no advertising SDKs.
- We do not use your health data to train machine learning models.
- We do not require an account, so we hold no email-to-medication mapping.
This website
https://pillreminder.bytesflux.com is a static marketing site. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies and embeds no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider records standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent — which are used for security and to keep the site running, and are retained for a short period before deletion.
Legal bases for processing
If you are in the UK, EU or EEA, we rely on the following legal bases under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR:
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) and explicit consent for health data (Article 9(2)(a)) — for optional features you switch on, such as caregiver alerts. You may withdraw consent at any time by turning the feature off.
- Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) — for processing a purchase you make.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — for keeping our website and infrastructure secure, and for responding to support requests.
Health information is a special category of personal data. This is precisely why the app is built to keep it on your device rather than on our systems.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. Because most of your data never leaves your device, you can exercise most of these directly in the app — the export feature covers access and portability, and deleting a medication or clearing your history covers erasure.
- Access — obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate data corrected.
- Erasure — have data we hold deleted.
- Restriction and objection — limit or object to certain processing.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — for any optional feature, at any time.
- Complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
California residents have equivalent rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct, and the right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right. To make a request, email faiqahmadinc@gmail.com; we respond within 30 days.
Data retention
- On-device data: kept until you delete it or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes it permanently.
- Caregiver alert delivery records: up to 30 days, then deleted.
- Support correspondence: up to 24 months after the matter is closed.
- Purchase records: as long as required for tax and accounting obligations.
- Website server logs: a short retention period set by our hosting provider.
Security
On-device data sits in the app's private storage, which Android isolates from other apps, and is covered by your device encryption. You can add an app lock with a PIN or biometrics for a second layer. Anything transmitted for optional features is sent over TLS.
No system is perfectly secure. Keeping your device updated, locked with a passcode, and free of software from untrusted sources does more for your privacy than anything we can do on our side.
Children
Pill Reminder is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. A parent or guardian may of course use the app to manage a child's medication — in that case the data is the adult's to manage, and stays on the adult's device. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
The limited data involved in optional features may be processed on servers outside your country. Where that involves a transfer out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. For changes that materially affect how your information is handled, we will give notice in the app before the change takes effect, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again.
